Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How does the applications process work?

A. Once all the applicants are received by the deadline, the Selection committee will evaluate all applicants and decide on finalists. Then the selection committee, at its discretion, may further contact the finalists for a final interview.

Q. How will I receive my award?

A. The finalists must be approved the board of Sirazi Foundation and the disbursement will be made by Sirazi Foundation directly to the institution, which the applicant applied for or is currently attending.

Q, What is the purpose of this program?

A. To promote and encourage higher education among the young generation from Syriac Orthodox descent.

Q. Do I have to attend a college or university in U.S.A. or Canada to apply ?

A. All students from foreign countries can apply. However, they must attend college or university equivalent institution in their country. The application process is slight different. Students from foreign countries should contact SSFG representative to receive their applications in their native language.

Q. How many students receive scholarships and grants?

A. In the 2010/2011 programsixty one (61) students from several countries received scholarships and grants.

Q. If I miss the application deadline, can I still qualify?

A. No, all applications must be received as per the guidelines and approved by the board of directors of Sirazi Foundation. Therefore, please submit your application on time.

Q. Do I need to prove that I am from Syriac Orthodox descent?

A. Yes. You can do that by submitting a letter from your priest or Archbishop,

Q. Would I owe any money back to the foundation after my graduation?

A. No. This is not a loan program. It is intended as scholarship or grant program. We hope that someday you will be in a position to help out your fellow brothers and sisters.
